Climate Change Hoax?

This might be the craziest thing I have ever heard of. Great Britain’s leading global warming proponent, the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia (coincidentally, America’s bomber force in World War II was based in East Anglia, which I learned through this book my fiance got me last Christmas), had their servers hacked and hacked bad.
What the hacker got away with was almost 1100 e-mails and 72 documents all of which can be found here. The documents seem to indicate an attempt to fudge global temperature statistics in order to show global warming. The e-mail everyone is abuzz about contains this quote:“I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”
The full text of the e-mail is here. “Nature trick” and “adding in the real temps” suggests a large degree of fraud. More e-mails are here. Confirmation the e-mails are legitimate from the head of CRU here. One thing they appear to be doing is destroying government data (which these e-mails are) subject to a Freedom of Information request. Crime? Probably, but it is definitely unethical and it suggests they are hiding something.
Global warming hoax? Maybe. ClimateGate? Most likely.
